Help for Job Seekers @your library!

Did you know that the Northlake Public Library District has a job club?  The Job Club meets the 3rd Wednesday of every month. The challenges of a job search are much easier with the encouragement of a group.  If you are looking for work, don’t do it alone. The Job Club welcomes job seekers and career changers.  We often feature expert speakers. Our next meeting is on Wednesday, November 16 from, 6-7 p.m. and will be on job interviews.  Please sign up today by calling 708-562-2301, in the Adult Services Department on the 2nd floor, or by emailing us at askus@northakelibrary.org

Did you know that the library subscribes to an online resource to help you with your job search?  Try out Career Transitions today!  Career Transitions guides you through the job searching process from beginning to end, including dsicovering your interests, and creating a resume and cover letter. This resource has a super-powered job search engine. If you are using HotJobs, Mosnter, Indeed and other popular job search sites, try Career Transtions. Transition gets information from these great sites and reduces the time you spend searchingn on line. Go to www.northlakelibrary.org and click on the Reference tab at the top of the screen, research databases, select Education, Skills and Careers and select Career Transitions to get started. You can either create a profile or use the resource as a visitor. If you need help getting started, then stop by the Adult Services desk on the 2nd floor.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Peruvian dance

Come join us on Saturday, October 8th at 2 p.m for a Peruvian folk dance performance featuring the Peruvian Folk Dance Center of Chicago.  A potluck reception will follow the performance.

Bilingual Divorce Workshop

On Thursday, September 22nd from 7-8 p.m. Judge Mark J. Lopez and attorney Gustavo Santana will be disscussing Illinois divorce laws and will be able to answer questions in English and Spanish. Registration is required and can be done so at the second floor information desk.
