Looking for some new music? Check out some of our recent releases in our jazz section....
Bare Bones, Madeline Peyroux. Peyroux is not only a great interpreter of songs, she also knows how to write in what might be called the old-fashioned way, the type of song with a universal, direct, emotional power that became a rarity during the late 20th century. Bare Bones is a bold step into previously unexplored psychological terrain. This fluid and enthralling new work is Peyroux's most personal yet, hardly surprising considering she had a hand in writing each of the 11 songs, marking the fulfillment of a lifelong dream. Quiet Nights, Diana Krall. Diana Krall's 12th album Quiet
Nights is an intimate recording of ballads and bossa novas. Accompanied by her quartet and orchestra, Diana turns her sensual vocals and consummate piano skills to "The Boy from Ipanema", "Walk on By"and other classic tunes.
(from the publisher's description).
The Lovers, the Dreamers and Me, Jane Monheit features the songs of contemporary songwriters such as Fiona Apple ("Slow Like Honey"), Corrine Bailey Rae ("Like A Star") and Paul Simon ("I Do It For Your Love"), alongside such jazz and pop classics as Cole Porter's "Get Out Of Town," Jimmy Dorsey's "I'm Glad There Is You," Leonard Bernstein's "Lucky To Be Me," William C.
